Job Details

**Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)**

**Full time / Part time hours available**

**On site – Torbay & Teignbridge**

**About Us**

Bay Vet Group is a thriving, independent, RCVS-accredited practice that has proudly served the South Devon community for over 50 years. We are passionate about delivering exceptional care to our patients and outstanding service to our clients—and we know that starts with our people.

Our team is friendly, experienced and long-standing, with many team members choosing to stay with us for 5, 10, even 15+ years. That longevity reflects the supportive, inclusive environment we’ve worked hard to build—one where people feel valued, respected and able to grow.

We are guided by our core values of **communication, respect, teamwork, community, professional growth and high clinical standards**. These aren’t just words—they’re lived every day across every part of the practice, shaping how we work together and how we care for our clients and their pets. Our culture is something we’re genuinely proud of.

**About the Role**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a **Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)** to join our friendly and supportive nursing team.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being an RVN, takes pride in their nursing and wants to make a genuine difference to our patients, clients and colleagues. You’ll play an important role in delivering high standards of patient care, supporting our veterinary surgeons, helping our Student Veterinary Nurses develop and contributing to the wider success of our practice.

This is a **multi-site role across all five of our branches in Torbay and Teignbridge**, so flexibility to work across our practices in line with the needs of the Practice is essential.

You will also take part in our **evening inpatient care rotation**, providing continuity of care for our inpatients. Our out-of-hours emergency service is covered by **CVS 24/7**.

We would particularly welcome someone who enjoys **nurse consultations** and is keen to use their skills to support preventative healthcare, client education and ongoing patient care. We want our nurses to feel confident in their nursing role and have opportunities to make full use of their knowledge and experience.

**Key Responsibilities**

– **Patient Care & Veterinary Support:** Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care; support veterinary surgeons with consultations, procedures, anaesthesia and inpatient care; carry out treatment plans under veterinary direction and escalate concerns promptly.
– **Nurse Consultations & Client Care:** Undertake nurse consultations in line with practice SOPs, providing preventative healthcare advice and client education. Support clients with patient care and medication, and assist with appropriate client care, PetsApp and reception duties when required.
– **Inpatient & Clinical Care:** Monitor hospitalised and anaesthetised patients, maintain accurate clinical records and provide clear handovers. Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection control, clinical organisation and patient documentation.
– **Student Veterinary Nurse Support:** Support and develop Student Veterinary Nurses, sharing knowledge and identifying training or development needs with the SVN Lead.
– **Clinical Standards & Compliance:** Work within RCVS requirements, practice SOPs and your professional scope of practice. Complete required Health & Safety training and maintain accurate clinical, laboratory, temperature and other relevant records.
– **Stock, Medication & Billing:** Support the safe handling and dispensing of medication, monitor clinical stock and report ordering requirements. Ensure patient records, charges and relevant billing information are accurate and up to date.
– **Communication & Teamwork:** Communicate effectively, respectfully and professionally with colleagues, clients and veterinary surgeons, contributing to a positive and supportive practice culture.
– **Professional Development:** Maintain your professional development and required CPD, and contribute to the ongoing development of nursing standards within the Practice.
– **Flexibility:** Work across all five Bay Vet Group sites in Torbay and Teignbridge and participate in the evening inpatient care rotation, in line with Practice requirements.
