Healthcare Assistant (HCA) – GP Practice

**About The Role**
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join a busy and supportive GP Practice in Northampton.

Working closely with the Practice Nursing Team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality patient care, supporting a wide range of clinical services, and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HCA looking to develop their career within Primary Care.

Key Responsibilities

– Provide a high-quality phlebotomy service
– Undertake NHS Health Checks and routine health assessments
– Record blood pressure, height, weight, ECGs, urinalysis, peak flow measurements, and other baseline observations
– Assist with wound care, infection prevention and control, and minor surgical procedures
– Process laboratory samples and maintain accurate clinical records using SystmOne
– Chaperone patients during clinical examinations where required
– Maintain vaccine cold chain records and monitor clinical equipment
– Restock clinical rooms and maintain medical supplies
– Support health promotion initiatives and patient education
– Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary primary care team

What We’re Looking For

**Essential**

– Phlebotomy Certificate
– Experience working as a Healthcare Assistant
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Strong organisational and IT skills
– Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
– Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care
– Understanding of confidentiality and information governance

Desirable

– Previous experience working within General Practice
– Experience using SystmOne
– Experience undertaking NHS Health Checks
– Knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures
