Registered Veterinary Nurse

Jed and Friends’ Veterinary Surgery is a unique and truly special independent single site, award winning practice, set in a beautiful location, with a canal just across the road, in Fenny Stratford, Bletchley.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team and help us to continue to grow our most special, compassionate and forward thinking veterinary surgery, where doing the right thing for our patients always comes first. Jed and Friends’ Veterinary Surgery is not an ordinary practice. Our practice has been set up in memory of beloved Jed, a truly amazing and deeply loved little guy. This is a rare opportunity to join the most unique and special practice.

We are a small, stable, extremely strongly bonded but welcoming team who support and help each other on a daily basis. The team have all worked together since the practice opened.

Newly qualified RVN’s are welcome to apply as well as experienced RVN’s. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude with a compassionate nature. You will be enthusiastic, hardworking, forward thinking and share our ethos of dedication, commitment and compassion to every single patient and client. The right attitude and someone who shares our values, philosophy on patient and client care and someone who is prepared to go the extra mile is the most important thing.

You will need to be energetic and vibrant with a good sense of humour. You must be able to work effectively as part of a team and enjoy interacting with clients as well as our patients. We are happy to teach and nurture where necessary and will provide plenty of support, but you must have experience of working in a first opinion practice and be able to use your own initiative. You will be supported by our wonderful, experienced RVN who has been with us since the practice was set up.

The practice is spacious, bright and airy with plenty of on-site parking. We are immensely proud of our wonderful practice and the outside is as beautiful as the inside. We have separate cat and dog wards, a fantastic prep room, purpose built theatre, a separate x-ray and ultrasound room, designated pharmacy and four consult rooms. We also have a very well equipped laboratory, a large comfortable staff room, a welcoming reception and comfortable waiting room with separate cat and dog areas. The practice is extremely well equipped with brand new equipment, which we continue to invest in.

We recognise that our staff are our greatest asset and you will feel valued and appreciated working for us. Our Clinical Director and Practice Manager are truly approachable and listen to all ideas.

We appreciate all the hard work nurses have put into their training and we allow our nurses to utilise their skills to the maximum. As an RVN working at our practice your role would include working in theatre, monitoring anaesthetics, radiography and imaging, placing IV catheters, taking bloods, a wide range of nurse clinics, pharmacy and dispensing medication, assisting the vet in the consult, client education, among other nursing duties.

Our vet treats a very wide range of surgical and medical cases (ranging from routine to the very complex). In addition, we have visiting peripatetic vets providing soft tissue, orthopaedic surgery and medical support when required so you will never be bored and will always be learning!

This is a **full time** position working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings. Our out of hours is outsourced to a local veterinary hospital.

A generous salary is on offer and is dependent on experience.
